Frequently Asked Questions

01

General

CrewDB is a platform that connects production teams with film and TV crew and suppliers.

02

User Types & Access

CrewDB has four types of users, each with a distinct role in the platform.

Seekers (Production Teams) can search for crew and suppliers by department, role, production, experience, location and availability. They can create an account to send enquiries, manage shortlists, track enquiries and access additional information such as CVs.

Contributors (Crew Members & Suppliers) can join libraries, create a profile with their experience, credits, skills and services, get approved by Administrators, appear in searches, receive enquiries and manage their presence across multiple libraries.

Administrators (Film Offices, Film Commissions) can manage library access by accepting or declining requests, edit library data, oversee verification of experience and credits, support production workflows via shortlists, monitor activity and maintain data quality.

Library Owners have full control over their library, including its structure and settings. They assign and manage Administrator access, control publishing and maintain oversight of who can join the library and how it is used.

03

Profiles & Visibility

Public profiles include professional information such as role, experience, skills and credits. Sensitive information is kept private.

04

Hiring & Enquiries

Yes, you can search and view public profiles without an account. However, you will need to sign up to create shortlists or contact crew and suppliers. This ensures all communication is tracked and allows you to manage shortlists, access CVs and follow up with professionals.

05

Shortlists

Shortlists are project-specific lists where production teams save and organise crew or suppliers.

06

Libraries

A library is a curated database of crew and suppliers, typically managed by an organisation such as a film office or film commission.

07

Verification

Profiles are reviewed by administrators based on credits, experience and professional references.

08

Pricing

CrewDB uses a library-based pricing model. Library owners pay an annual fee to manage and maintain their library. Crew members and suppliers can join and create profiles at no cost.

09

Technical

Yes, CrewDB integrates with LocationDB to help you find local crew and suppliers near your shoot locations.
